Cancers against cancer (cac)
Mila Knight & John Skweird
Cancerians raising money through music for the fight against cancer. Mainly benefitting those who are underrepresented and marginalized.
UNDER THE SCARS
FALL 2022
Under the Scars was an intimate backyard benefit concert, which raised funds to support breast cancer patients and survivors.
100% of the funds was donated to PRIDE CANCER RETREAT, a grassroots charitable organization for people who have personally dealt with cancer. Pride hosts retreats that create a fun and relaxing experience where cancer patients and survivors, known as Lionesses, can “pause” cancer for a bit and get together to form community, live and laugh a little. For those impacted by cancer, you know how important this reprieve is. (www.prideretreat.org)
The benefit was headlined by Mila Knight and John Skweird; two artists whose lives have been personally impacted, by cancer, and their shared belief in the power of music in the coping and healing process.
LOVE, LOSS, & LIBERATION
Winter 2020
The concert which started it all. Mila's first concert she did while undergoing chemotherapy, and not knowing which end she will come out from the battle for her life. Mila produced the concert after being motivated by a friend to put her talent to use, and being faced with the question - if not now, then when?
Supported by close friends, family and her music circle, the concert was a success and inspiring in many ways, with all funds going to charity. Thus paving the way for more fundraising, increased breast cancer awareness, and the birth of Cancers Against Cancer.
